We stayed at the Microtel. It was really nice and clean. I would recommend it to anyone.

Here's a view of some of the neat old buildings in Old Market.

We ate dinner at the Upstream Brewery. It was really amazing! Of course we had to try a couple of their micro brews. I had their seasonal wheat beer and Luke had a red lager.

We ordered their jalapeno cheddar poppers for an appetizer. Normally I don't like spicy things, but Luke loves it! To him, the hotter the better. So I've been trying to get used to spicy things. These poppers were amazing!! And weren't even that hot!

Luke's bbq chicken pizza.

My raspberry glazed chicken with feta cheese and pine nuts. Oh my!

After completely stuffing ourselves at Upstream, we walked around Old Market until dark. It's such a cool neighborhood! I could seriously move there!

I found this in a cute little store. So appropriate.

I think married life looks good on us so far.

We spent the whole next day at the Henry Doorly Zoo. I think the last time either of us had been there was for our 8th grade trip. We had a lot of fun. And apparently the best day to go is the Monday after school starts, because it wasn't crazy busy. Nice!
This part is underneath the Desert Dome. Luke, "there better not be any friggin' snakes in here."

And that's basically all there was. Ha!

The monkeys.

We fit right in.

Luke is the biggest gorilla antagonist ever! He stared at the poor things till they couldn't take it anymore and beat on the glass or their chests. It happened 4 times. The gorilla world officially hates Luke.

Penguins! My whole reason for going to the zoo.

We rode the Skyfari, which is basically a ski lift from one edge of the zoo to the other. On it, you go over the giraffes and rhinos and the lagoon. It's pretty neat. I thought Luke, who hates heights, wouldn't like it, but it was me that had a kung-fu grip on the railing keeping us in our little car.

That night we ate at Spaghetti Works for dinner. I had high hopes and it was just okay. We ordered bruschetta for an appetizer because it sounded great, but we were a little disappointed when it came on Texas toast.... odd.

Luke and his pasta with beer cheese sauce. It was different but good.

Me and my spinach and ricotta stuffed shells. These were good!

After we ate, we walked around Old Market some more and stumbled onto Ted & Wally's. The best little ice cream place ever!! They had old fashioned crank freezers working to make their ice cream. Oh man was it good!

And that was the end of our little getaway. It was a fun trip but I definitely wasn't ready to come back to normal life. I'm already ready for our next trip!!
